The Impact of Flavonoids in Cannabis

Flavonoids are another group of compounds in cannabis that, like terpenes, contribute to the plant’s color, flavor, and overall sensory profile.

But their role extends to pharmacological aspects as well, providing anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-carcinogenic properties. Flavonoids such as quercetin, kaempferol, and catechin have been studied for their ability to fight oxidative stress and aid in chronic disease prevention.

In the context of cannabis, flavonoids work synergistically with cannabinoids and terpenes to enhance their therapeutic effects. This synergy suggests that the benefits of medical cannabis cannot be attributed to a single compound, but rather to the complex interactions between its many components.

Research into flavonoids is expanding our understanding of how cannabis can be used more effectively in medical treatments.
